What was that rape-comic thing about? Did you delete the asks containing actual snarky bits? Because all that's left is just you pointing some facts out as an answer to what appears to be a follow up ask. I'm asking because I don't see why one would argue about and rationalize the context of their (or other peoples) art to absolve it. Or in other words, I don't see anything inherently wrong with drawing comics depicting actual rape and why the author would need to justify themselves.

no i just edited it out since it was pointless

there was a sentence speculating on the motivations of the people who tacked the comics onto the list of sins, and it was kind of aggressive and not clear that i wasn’t including the anon in that category, so whoops

maybe there’s a cycle here, like:

  • people hear some juicy gossip and spread it
  • it turns out to be false so the people who spread it now feel foolish
  • those people feel resentful towards the original target for “causing” them to feel foolish
  • so when some new juicy gossip comes along they are even more invested in believing it, because if the target turns out to be Bad for different reasons, it would tenuously justify contributing to the previous mob
