but i’m learning japanese!: then speak it in full sentences

umm, “kawaii” is a full sentence in japanese

however “made a thing” is not a full sentence in english, so, idk this bit is a pretty weird thing to say

Steven Universe - Opening (JP)

</3

Steven’s voice is pretty mismatched, but Garnet sounds downright AWFUL. Like she has a bad throat cold or something. :(

Amethyst and Pearl sound okayish.

But wow, it’s really jarring to hear the Japanese voices be lower than the English ones for a change…

:0 I thought they sounded alright! Steven sounded the worst off to me, just deeper then I’m used to. It’s jarring but it seems about right. Garnets VO cant sing though haha

IT WAS SO MUCH BETTER IN THE ORIGINAL ENGLISH

no way they all sound great imo

garnet’s not being good at singing seems pretty appropriate haha

and i can totally see steven with that voice; it helps that the bulk of dudes in animes i’ve watched have been dubbed in english by like a 19yo eunuch

it’s a shame the “steven” rhyme no longer works but i love that they made a point of keeping the first rhyme with 〜る (not that that’s particularly difficult in japanese)

also rofl パール そして is a bit of a stretch

now i want to watch this all over in dubbed double-subtitled japanese

today i learned tumblr actually allows ruby tags; neat (try in a webkit browser)

the meaning is slightly different and some lines were shuffled around to fit the rhythm but i’m pretty sure i’ll butcher the hell out of this if i try to translate it directly

kuiperfrog asked:

Do you know what they mean by "moonspeak"? It's a shorthand for a "foreign language," like Japanese. But, I feel like it's a derogatory term, because "'moon'speak" sounds like something not of this world, where Japanese is part of this world, our earth...

ouroporos-deactivated20181231 answered:

Yeah I know it. but I didn’t feel such derogatory thing from that question, so I just took it as kind of jokes ( it doesn’t matter what the truth it was for me really )

「日本」との意味が「日の本」とだから、「日語」と言うはずだね
