same person: "...i would expect that at least _occasionally_ it would notice it’s really bumming its owner out and adjust itself accordingly." ... it does! have you ever read about childhood gender nonconformity? (imo both flavors of "theraputic interventions" are kind of weird and coercive, but.) it exists, and although sometimes gender non-conforming kids do turn out to be trans, a substantial proportion turn out cis and gay/bi or even cis and straight. (cont.) hella anecdotal, but: when i was little i looked _exactly_ like a trans kid. i wanted to present as a boy; i tried to socialize as a boy; i was horrified by the notion of boobs and periods. i hit puberty and… i’m hella cis. i don’t always like the way my boobs make me present, but they’re part of me, you know? they’re _mine_ and it turns out i’m fine with that. (i suspect this is more common than people think. it’s easy to forget about the things you did as a weird little kid.)
haha that is cool to know i guess this is all just part of the vast diversity of the human brain; not exactly surprising that some people are more naturally plastic in some areas there’s an obvious sampling bias since if you resolve a problem yourself, you don’t need outside help and have less reason to talk about it
