Shocked how many people think you can just turn on a computer and leave it on for weeks or months or years and never turn it off and it’ll be fine. Computers need their sleep, and sleep mode does not count

i need to know if everyone on this post thinks they turn tumblr off at night, or thinks tumblr runs on something that isn’t a computer

well I disagree with the original post but also I do cycle all of my prod servers every 24 hours and think it’s important to do so. Cattle, not pets, you know?

i am not sure i have ever rebooted a server deliberately. it reboots when linode has to move it to another datacenter every couple years. similarly the last time my deskop rebooted was when the power went out and my ups battery was dead. my current uptime is 889 days and 116 days respectively
