Why spaces? They add to the character count but not the compiled code, I suppose. But JavaScript?

who cares how big the source code is? this change increased the size of our codebase by maybe 5%, which is dwarfed further by how big the revision history is.

also most javascript is squashed before it’s sent over the wire and all the whitespace is removed anyway. e.g. tumblr’s code for its text editor.
