oh cool! I haven’t like actually looked into how it works yet but vee was telling me it does work and is a decent alternative? I hope it’s easy to use!
i haven’t actually used it myself yet but i am frankly amazed they pulled this off
- write an email to someone
- put $50 or whatever as the subject
- cc cash@square.com
- the first time, it will ask you both to give debit card (nb: must be debit) details
- in less than 48 hours money moves
- there is no fee
- there is no username/password
- they don’t ever keep the money in yet another account (which is why it has to be a debit card)
so, you know, fuck paypal
downsides are
- surprise, it only works in the US. more specifically, only in the 50 US states. and for some reason HI and TN can’t send money at the moment. i assume they are working on improving this, but everyone seems to have trouble with international finances.
- you need a checking account. but if you don’t have a checking account you should probably get one. (i have a bunch of Simple invites!)
- you can only send $250 in a week. if you give them your name and DOB and last four of SSN, it goes up to $2500.
- you should probably make sure you have a really good email passphrase
