asked:
I thought that Pearl liked pie ('So Many Birthdays'). And yet, she can't stand the thought of eating ('Fusion Cuisine'). Why is this?

answered:

Pearl likes the concept of pie.  She can appreciate the human practice of baking for the precision it often requires.  It’s really more of a science than a cooking method, in her eyes.  The process is what she’s into.  The actual consumption of the pie, of course, seems absurd.

Alternatively, if that retcon doesn’t work for you, Pearl just thought Steven was talking about pi.

If the shoe fits, sweetheart.  Guys!  I’m “harassing” this person via a single tumblr message!  Oh, boo hoo!  Your poor, pwecious widdle fee-fees!  As opposed to, you know…badgering a writer of a show to the point of deleting their account over WHETHER AN ALIEN LIKES FOOD OR NOT.  Plus, we’re also talking about work that said writer was not even the sole producer of.  As for being “dismissive”, I’d say it’s more a case of being completely unprepared for anyone to give that much of a shit about something so incredibly fucking pointless.  Grow the fuck up.

"i don’t know what uncle grandpa is but i’m pretty sure ratings are not based on tumblr posts"

No, but I’m pretty sure poorly representing your fandom as a cesspool of whiny, entitled little uterine droppings that can’t get the fuck over extremely unimportant, miniscule details about characters that don’t even exist to the point of harassing one of the show’s writers into deleting their tumblr drives away a lot of potential viewers from wanting to watch the show, which DOES affect ratings.

thanks for showing me how i should behave! i will be sure to follow your example.

my favorite part of this tirade is how you imply that even the most mundane acknowledgement of “a single tumblr message” makes someone a huge baby

what would you think of someone who deleted their blog over “a single tumblr message”, i wonder
