Hi! I haven’t read it yet, since I don’t have access to a computer right now and I can’t give it the consideration it deserves if I’m reading it three words at at a time while squinting at my tiny phone screen. I’m also a bit sick right now so my brain is probably not up to snuff. I’ll update my initial ‘thoughts’ post with updated thoughts once I’m off the cold pills and I have my computer back! (Should be sometime after Monday.)
(To the other anons who have asked me questions about asexuality week: I got your questions and will reply back! Just give me a few days. Thanks so much!)
dear anon:
you cannot possibly be serious.
I don’t think Lexy’s document was well cited or sourced.
my document contains tons and tons of logs and references. i don’t know how you expect it to be any better “cited or sourced”, or what pengo did that was so much better at convincing you. please do tell me. seriously.
i spent so much goddamn time hunting down logs and posts and screenshots and timestamps so i could figure out what the hell pengo was actually talking about. but anon, well, anon doesn’t think it’s well-cited. i don’t even have a bibliography! i should quote at least three reputable scholarly articles about a fucking anime convention.
And text is hardly a good way of showing how someone’s overall attitude might affect a sensitive person.
this is not about how mel’s “overall attitude” affected pengo. this is not some cutesy high school relationship gossip, despite how tumblr is treating it. this is about whether mel is manipulative and nigh-abusive, as pengo claimed.
and when 90% of their relationship was text, what else do you want? text was what mel had to go on. if pengo did not express something through text, mel could not have known about it. if pengo was secretly sad the entire time but went out of his way to constantly convince mel he was fine, that sucks, but it is not her problem any more.
And unbiased… I don’t think anyone would say ‘lover of the perpetrator’ is an unbiased source.
i think plenty of people would say that pages and pages of logs between the accuser and the accused are a pretty good and unbiased source.
the extra information i added was composed of my own observations and things i heard directly from other people. i’m barely even a source at all.
and, what, are you suggesting the accuser is an unbiased source? do you have a suggestion for who we could consult on this that doesn’t have some kind of stake in it?
christ.
to me, it looks like you are digging real deep to come up with some excuses for why you still get to hate mel.
and you know, if you want to hate mel, cool! go do that. but don’t pull this vague pseudo-critical bullshit on me. if you have a specific criticism of my document, i’m all ears. if you want to take a month to write a counter-rebuttal, that’s cool too. but if you’re just spouting things you’ve seen people say on wikipedia talk pages because you don’t want to hear about how you’re wrong, that’s your problem, and you can shove it up your ass.
