you know what really, REALLY fucking gets to me

people took pengo’s tale of abuse at face value, and ok, that’s reasonable

but REMEMBER MIKE? who abused his power to push his fetishes onto other people, creeped on girl artists so hard that some of them left the internet, etc

and then who cried about how mean mel had been to him

and cut out logs where mel yelled at him to garner sympathy, quietly omitting the parts where she was yelling at him because he’d done something awful

he ended up with a whole support network and, as far as i can tell, is currently being coddled by a whole new ecosystem

because pk was so mean.

there are even people who’ve gone out of their way to defend him in the months since. who’ve angrily called mel out for ever mentioning him again.

mike took advantage of mel’s friendship and life-consuming project for his own skeezy gain

and people blamed mel for still being angry about it when “he’s been through enough”

been through what? mel made a post about him, describing his actual actions that were actually harmful?

to my knowledge he never even apologized to the artists he’d actually bothered, or tried in any way to fix what he’d done. he just said how sad he was until enough people gave him hugs and then he wasn’t sad any more. phew, problem solved.

and now

NOW

not only has mike been trotted out several times as an example of how mel “abuses” people

but MIKE HIMSELF has jumped on this situation to fucking lecture her to LEARN FROM THIS, THE THING HE DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE EVER SHOWN INTEREST IN DOING. and this is not a new phenomenon; i’ve seen him refer to her as a “bad person” before. bad, because she called him out, on his actual actions

SO TO FUCKING RECAP:

• if it looks like mel did something wrong, people are disgusted with mel
• if it looks like someone else did something wrong, PEOPLE ARE STILL DISGUSTED WITH MEL

please tell me how this is not completely and utterly fucked up. i am dying to know.
