I will start off saying that I hate that I am writing this. I am so sad, so bummed out, but I know it’s really for the best. The more I map out my next year, the more I realize how much this needs to happen. If you are one of my friends irl and I haven’t told you about this directly: I encourage you not to talk about it because I might cry, haha. So…

If you live in Washington or in a neighboring state (including British Columbia), and are a ferret owner or know some who may want a special little ferret, please read!

I rescued Pecha a few months ago when one of my mom’s friends found a baby ferret wandering around in the boonies here in Washington. Having lost my little boy ferret Gulliver a few months prior… I wanted another chance.

I got her just after my first convention this year, and right before all my others. I swore that after cons, I’d have more time for her (my mom and my brother took care of her during this time). And I have had more time… but just barely. She gets enough exercise and seems happy, but its still just barely what I’d WANT to give her ideally.

I’m going to Japan in a few months for a few weeks with my partner, and then cons start up again very very shortly after. I am also moving during this time (between February and May depending on where I move), which will be a HUGE life change (I will definitely be moving well out of my county and potentially to places that are not suitable for a cold-weather creature).

I would just give her up for adoption at one of the nice shelters here or use craigslist… but, I want to give Tumblr a chance first since I’ll have more say in who gets her, so here it goes:

* Pecha is female, spayed, Marshall ferret. She was born around February 2014. She is deaf, EXTREMELY friendly- has never nipped me, EVER, even when I’ve accidentally spooked her (though she pulls on my socks if i’m getting dressed in the same room…). Loves beind held and petted and coddled, but also loves running around like a crazy little weirdo. She plays mostly with me (loves playing chase and uses her front paws like a kitten, aww!) and currently is eating half wysong half zupreem. She has no known health issues outside of the deafness.

* I want to find her a home that is VERY ferret friendly- preferably with OTHER ferrets and/or someone who has had ferrets before (and even better if you know how to handle a deaf one). I really don’t want to give her to a first time ferret owner, sorry. I think she’d do really well with other ferrets, because she does well with my cats and dogs, but she hasn’t been around another ferret presumably since her litter-mates.

* It’d be wonderful if you lived somewhat close (Western Washington) or if you live in a neighboring state (British Columbia, Idaho, Oregon), would be able to meet me halfway. I can plan a meeting between now and mid December, or after mid-January (I will be in Japan otherwise). Sooner the better, because my timeline gets really busy and fuzzy after Japan.

* I currently have almost a full bag of both of her foods, lots of blankets, snuggle dens, toys, etc that I can give too. It’d be a hassle but I could give you her old small cage if you need it (it’s a single ferret single level plastic and metal hutch-style cage). It’s not what she currently lives in, but what she lives in is rather hard to tote around since its huge and two levels and made of wood and I have a sports car, heh.

* I honestly won’t ask for any compensation. She is free to any home I find suitable nearby. If you feel like giving me money for gas or the food or something I won’t refuse, but honestly: I care more about her getting a home that’ll treat her well and really love her.

This pains me to write. She is seriously the best pet I’ve ever had, I’m not just exaggerating: she literally is just the sweetest thing and writing this bums me out more than I can describe, but it’s really for the best- for her and for me! My life is about to become too busy and unpredictable for a pet that relies so much on me - it’s not fair to her at all.
