i suppose i fundamentally disagree that pengo’s issues should shield him from responsibility for things he does. i’d give him more leeway for small things, sure. i’m happy to try to be understanding. but this was huge; not just some relationship rant but “pk is manipulative don’t support them”. would you really keep the kid gloves on if you’d been the target? it seems to me that that trivializes his actions, and perhaps even tells him that they’re acceptable.
if you don’t approve of mel’s anime expo rant from last year, sure, that’s fine. i don’t like the implication that she shouldn’t post things about people she feels have slighted her (whereas pengo, of course, is free to say whatever he wants, even if untrue). if that’s not what you think, i would love to know what the protocol is, because no one has really explained the rules here.
it is pretty telling that most people didn’t even know it existed until pengo brought it up. i mean, in a sense, pengo showed that rant to 25× more people than mel showed it to. so shaming her for publicly scorning him strikes me as kind of weird.
